Arin Shahbazian

Welcome to my personal website!

I am a fifth-year Economics Ph.D. candidate at Virginia Tech (VT), and I will be on the job market in 2025-2026. My research interests include health economics, applied microeconomics, causal inference, and machine learning. My recent research studies have focused on health economics, particularly weight control programs and healthcare claims studies. Also, through recent internship experience working with large-scale health claims datasets, I have further strengthened my expertise in applying rigorous statistical and causal analysis methods to applied research.

I received an M.Sc. in Economics from Sharif University of Technology and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from K. N. Toosi University of Technology, both in Iran. Before joining Virginia Tech, I worked at Netbina, the Parliament Research Center of Iran, the Insurance Research Center of Iran, and the Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
